Everything There Is to See and Do at This Year’s Houston Rodeo

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is one of Texas’ biggest annual events. Indulge in the tastiest barbecue, listen to tunes, and watch a rodeo performance that’ll have you sitting on the edge of your seat. Read on to discover everything there is to see and do.

The Houston Rodeo runs from the end of February to the middle of March, but there’s also tons of fun to be had even earlier. The World Championship Bar-B-Que Contest is a three-day annual competition which leads up to the event and features over 250 teams each year. Although you can’t compete in the competition yourself, you can spend the afternoon watching every moment of this cook-off from The Garden, Chuckwagon or Rockin’ Bar-B-Que Saloon. Can’t make it out to the Bar-B-Que Contest? That’s ok — check out the other pre-rodeo events that are planned.

From horse and livestock shows to concerts and carnival rides, the Houston Rodeo takes every member of the family into account with events that appeal to the masses. Bring the youngest members of your clan along or attend with friends instead. No matter which you choose, you can’t go wrong — the event is a Houston tradition that practically guarantees a good time for everyone.

Now for the actual rodeo — there’s so much to get excited about. World-famous artists are set to perform across the various days of the event, including Luke Bryan and Chris Stapleton, while hundreds of contestants will be competing this year for a total of $2.17 million and the title of RodeoHouston Champion. Between the shows, enjoy some shopping and dining or sip on a glass of award-winning wine. There’s no shortage of ways to spend your time.
